Laura Latka is a German figurative painter and filmmaker living between Düsseldorf and Granada — between north and south, between cool distance and Andalusian heat. Exactly this tension runs through all her work.
In oil and acrylic, she paints what happens between people and what goes on inside us when no one is watching. Touch. Longing. The moment just before the kiss. Figures adrift in skies larger than reality.
The undertone of life.
Her brushwork is expressive and direct; her colour world deliberately emotionally heightened. She doesn't paint documentation of life — she paints its undertone. The vibration underneath. The silence that screams.
Her two current painting series, El Beso and Head in the Clouds, approach the same emotional territory from opposite directions: one outward, between two people in radical close-up; one inward, where inner states dissolve into atmospheric landscape.

As a writer and director, Laura brings the same instinct to film that she brings to canvas — an eye for what stays unspoken. Her observations of the present, the quiet undertones of now, find their way onto whichever surface is closest at hand: paint, or the screen.
